We’ve all been there. You wake up with an earache, or your toddler develops a cough overnight. You call the doctor and find that the next available appointment isn't for days, and the urgent care has a long wait at a higher cost.
In those moments, it feels like you've been backed into a corner. When you’re hurting, worried, or simply need an answer, your health shouldn't have to wait, and your card shouldn't be overcharged.
At Lubbock Primary Care, we believe that being patient-first means being there when life actually happens—not just when it’s convenient for our schedule. That is why we have made welcoming walk-ins a core part of how we care for our community.
We know that your life is a juggling act of work, family, and a dozen other responsibilities, and we know symptoms tend to show up at the busiest times. By opening our doors to walk-ins, we aim to remove the stress of urgent care and emergency room wait times and costs. You shouldn't have to spend hours in a crowded waiting room for a sinus infection or a minor strain just because your primary doctor is booked.
Common Reasons for a Walk-In Appointment
Walk-in appointments are best utilized for acute (sudden onset) and minor illnesses or injuries that cannot wait for a scheduled appointment.
- Minor Injuries: Small cuts, abrasions, sprains.
- Respiratory Illnesses: Cold, flu symptoms, sinus infections, sore throat, or earaches.
- Skin Issues: Rashes, bites, minor burns, or poison ivy.
- Urinary or STI issues: Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) or sexually transmitted infection (STI) symptoms.
Now, there are times when an urgent care or emergency room visit is necessary. We're here for your minor emergencies, but if you're experiencing any of the following, we recommend skipping the walk-in visit and heading to the ER.
- Chest pain or heart attack symptoms.
- Signs of stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty).
- Severe abdominal pain.
- Significant head trauma or loss of consciousness.
- Severe bleeding that won't stop.
- Difficulty breathing.
When you walk through our doors without an appointment, you aren't an interruption; you are the reason we are here. While we still prioritize scheduled visits, we purposefully structure our day to leave room for you. Whether it’s a sudden fever, a cut on the playground, or a nagging concern that’s keeping you up at night, our goal is to provide the peace of mind that comes with seeing a provider who knows your history.
Healthcare is about more than just medicine—it’s about being a reliable neighbor. Next time you need us, come on in. We’re ready for you.
